Myth 1. You can be a therian if you want to.
Myth 2. You can choose whatever animal you want.
Myth 3. You can be a wolf/cheetah/cougar/dragon/gryphon/elf/angel/spotted hippo with blackbird tendencies.
Myth 4. Therians are bloodthirsty beasts who are out to kill you.
Myth 5. You have to be pagan to be a therian.
Myth 6. Furries and therians are the same thing.
Myth 7. Therians think they can physical shift into their animal.
Myth 8. Therians are just role-players.
Myth 9. Therians are people who are completely spiritually in tune with themselves.

Myth 10. Most therianthropes are wolves.
Myth 11. Therianthropes advertise themselves and their upcoming meetups on the Internet.
Myth 12. A therianthrope's goal in life is to live in the wild and lead a lifestyle as close to that of an animal as possible, far away from humans.
Myth 13. In their daily lives and when meeting one another, therianthropes try to imitate animal behavior (running on all fours, growling, biting, etc.).
Myth 14. Therianthropy does not exist; for any given therianthrope, it is simply whatever they personally think it is.
Myth 15. All therianthropes experience shifts (episodes, mental takeovers, etc.).
Myth 16. Outward displays of animal behavior—or the imitation thereof—are a sign of therianthropy.
Myth 17. To consider oneself a therianthrope, it is enough to simply view oneself as an animal in a human body; no other grounds or prerequisites are needed.
Myth 18. Therianthropy is a mysterious, enigmatic phenomenon that is completely unknown to science, with very little information available about it.
Incidentally, this phenomenon can go by names other than "therianthropy".
Myth 19. To be a therianthrope, one must be a zoophile and engage in sexual activity with animals.
Myth 20. Animals have no moral norms or ethical standards.
